Jamie Kleinman is an Associate Professor in Residence in the Department of Psychological Science at the University of Connecticut, Avery Point. She serves as Chair of the UConn Common Curriculum for Leadership and Global Citizenship (2025-2028) and is a Faculty Affiliate at the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL).
Her educational background includes a B.A. in Psychology from Davidson College (1998), M.A. (2005) and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (2007) from the University of Connecticut, with a neuropsychology concentration. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UConn (2012-2014) and an internship at Hartford Hospital's Institute of Living (2006-2007).
Dr. Kleinman's research focuses on innovative pedagogy in psychology education, particularly developing self-assessment tools for introductory courses. Her work bridges clinical expertise in early autism detection with educational technology and teaching effectiveness. Current interests include metacognition development, accessible learning design, and educational outcome measurement.
Her recent publications demonstrate a shift from clinical autism research to scholarship of teaching and learning, with 2001-2008 works establishing foundational autism diagnostic methods and 2025 work addressing higher education pedagogy reform.
