Jamie Garner

Dr. Jamie Garner is an Associate Instructional Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Florida. She serves as Coordinator of the undergraduate Linguistics program, the TESL Certificate (Teaching English as a Second Language), and the SLAT Certificate (Second Language Acquisition and Teaching). Her research focuses on learner corpus research, phraseology, and second language acquisition, with recent shifts toward transgender comics and comics history. She is co-authoring a book titled "Can We Offer You an Egg in These Trying Times?": Rhetoric, Memetics, and Transgender Comics (Lexington Books, 2026).

• Teaching roles include flipped classrooms and active learning strategies, emphasizing lifelong learning skills.
• Extensive international teaching experience in Germany, South Korea, and the U.S., including ESL courses at universities like Kyungpook National University.
