Jameson Wetmore is an Associate Professor at Arizona State University's School for the Future of Innovation in Society and co-director of the Center for Engagement and Training in Science and Society. He holds additional roles as Senior Global Futures Scientist and Adjunct Professor in interdisciplinary fields. With a Ph.D. from Cornell University, his research bridges Science and Technology Studies, ethics, and public policy, focusing on sociotechnical systems and their societal impacts. His work examines technology adoption in diverse contexts, including Amish communities, disaster resilience in New Orleans, and nanotechnology governance. He co-edited the influential book Technology and Society: Building our Sociotechnical Future.
Education: Ph.D. (Cornell), M.A. (Cornell), B.A. (University of Notre Dame). Awards include the Responsible Innovator Award (2023), SFIS Excellence in Education Award (2022), and multiple teaching and service recognitions. He has held visiting scholar roles at the University of Edinburgh and participated in global initiatives like the UK Economic & Social Research Council collaborations.
Research interests span ethics and technology, nanotechnology policy, and science engagement. Over 50 peer-reviewed publications and funded grants include NSF projects on East African computing research, nanotechnology infrastructure, and engineering education. He leads training programs for scientists and engineers, integrating social implications into technical development.
Service includes Senate roles in the ASU Faculty Senate (2015–2018), leadership in masters programs at SFIS, and board roles at the Desert Botanical Garden. He actively promotes public dialogue through museum partnerships and workshops, emphasizing responsible innovation and societal reflection on technological futures.
