Professor James Wessel is a faculty member at Franciscan University’s Department of Software Engineering and Cybersecurity. With over 38 years of experience in software development and acquisition management across the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) services, industry partners, and academia, he specializes in emerging areas such as Cloud Computing, Agile Methodologies, Digital Engineering, DevSecOps, and Cybersecurity.
His professional history includes over 16 years at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI), where he developed software engineering courses for Franciscan University undergraduates over the past five years. Prior to the SEI, he worked with the U.S. Army Program Executive Offices and research programs as a MITRE Corporation employee, and earlier in the energy sector.
He holds a Master of Science in Software Engineering and has published and presented extensively on Software Engineering topics at conferences.
