James W. Frusetta-Ulfhrafn is the Assistant Dean of the Faculty and Elliott Professor of History at Hampden-Sydney College, where he is affiliated with the History Department. His academic focus lies in modern European history, particularly Southeastern and Central Europe.

His work also explores the depiction of fascist ideology in American popular culture and the coverage of fascist terrorism in historical American newspapers.
His recent publications reflect a trend towards interdisciplinary approaches, combining historical analysis with cultural studies and political science. Key fields include Holocaust studies, genocide studies, and the history of fascism, with a regional focus on Southeastern Europe.
