Constantin Iordachi is a Professor in the Department of Historical Studies and a University Professor in the Doctoral School of History at Central European University (CEU). He co-directs Pasts Inc., Center for Historical Studies, and holds editorial leadership roles, including Editor-in-Chief of the CEU Review of Books and Co-Editor-in-Chief of East Central Europe (Brill). He is President of the International Association for Comparative Fascist Studies (ComFas) and a member of Academia Europaea and the House of European History’s Academic Committee.

His research centers on comparative and transnational history, with a focus on fascism, totalitarianism, citizenship, nationalism, and memory politics in East-Central and Southeastern Europe. He has pioneered interdisciplinary approaches to political radicalism, biopolitics, and the history of communist dictatorships. His work explores the intersections of ideology, violence, and state-building, particularly in Romania and the Balkans.
The recent scholarly articles reflect a consistent engagement with themes of memory cultures, victimhood, political violence, and ideological transfers. His publications span comparative fascism, Holocaust studies, citizenship regimes, and the transnational dimensions of authoritarianism. He frequently employs comparative and entangled history methodologies to analyze regional developments within global frameworks.

He has supervised numerous doctoral students on topics including Holocaust memory, partisan identity, antisemitism, veteran politics, and state violence. His academic leadership includes past roles as Head of the Department of History (2008–2011) and Director of the Doctoral Program in History (2014–2019). He has held fellowships at the Woodrow Wilson Center, Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
He is actively involved in editorial and advisory boards, including for Fascism: Journal of Comparative Fascist Studies and the book series East Central Europe and Studies in Political Radicalization. He contributes to public discourse through interviews and policy-oriented publications on citizenship and historical memory.
