James Shea

Dr. James Shea is a Principal Lecturer and Initial Teacher Education Portfolio Leader at the University of Bedfordshire's School of Education. He oversees undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education programs and chairs key committees such as the Recruitment Committee and Mentor Development Committee. His research focuses on retrieval practice, neuroscience in education, handwriting interventions, and technology integration. He co-edits The Peer Reviewed Education Blog and has authored multiple books and peer-reviewed articles.

James holds a Ed.D. in Teacher Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He serves as a Trustee for the Pyramid Multi Academy Trust and an external examiner for several universities. His awards include multiple Vice Chancellor's Awards for teaching excellence and contributions to institutional values. He actively engages with professional development, curriculum design, and educational policy, bridging academic research with practical classroom applications.
