James Schiff is Professor of English at the University of Cincinnati's College of Arts and Sciences, where he has taught since 1989. His distinguished career focuses on 20th-century American literature with particular expertise in John Updike studies. Schiff serves as founding editor of the John Updike Review and consulting editor for Critique and Philip Roth Studies.
His research interests center on American literature, creative writing, contemporary fiction, and the history of the novel. Schiff's scholarly work examines literary adaptation, domestic spaces in fiction, presidential representation in literature, and the intersection of religion and everyday life in American novels.
