James S. Hu

Dr. James S. Hu is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC), serving as Medical Director of the Sarcoma Program. With over 30 years of clinical expertise in medical oncology, he specializes in sarcoma treatment and has pioneered individualized care approaches for rare cancers. A national expert, he collaborates with organizations like the Sarcoma Alliance for Research through Collaboration (SARC) to advance clinical trials and research. Dr. Hu co-directs the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) program at USC and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, addressing the unique needs of younger sarcoma patients. His military background as a former combat hospital commander informs his focus on patient accessibility and holistic oncology care.

Dr. Hu’s research interests include sarcoma treatment optimization, clinical trial development, and improving outcomes through multidisciplinary strategies.
