His affiliations include the Institute for Sustainability and collaborations with institutions like the University of Exeter and Sharp Laboratories of Europe.
His research focuses on life cycle sustainability assessment of physical vs digital resources, vertical farming, short rotation coppice willow, sweetener replacement, insect-based food/feed, and innovations at the Water-Energy-Food Nexus. Earlier work explored resource efficiency in mobile devices and product-service systems.
His recent publications (2023-2025) examine environmental impacts of sugar alternatives (sorbitol, maltitol, aspartame, neotame, sucralose, thaumatin, steviol glycosides) under the SWEET project, emphasizing iso-sweetness comparisons, international transport, and process simulation. Earlier studies (2017-2021) addressed food waste bioconversion, stakeholder engagement in nexus challenges, and planetary boundary frameworks.
Key themes in his work include environmental impact quantification, sustainable transitions, circular economy, and policy implications for food, energy, and electronic waste systems.
