Dr James Ross is a Reader in Late Medieval History at the University of Winchester's School of Humanities. He holds a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford and has held roles at the History of Parliament Trust and the National Archives. His research focuses on late medieval nobility, royal administration, and Tudor kingship. He leads the Leverhulme Trust-funded Tudor Chamber Books project, digitizing royal financial records to explore early Tudor governance and court culture. Ross has been awarded the Leverhulme Trust (2016) and AHRC Collaborative Skills Development awards. He supervises Ph.D. students and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
