Dr. James Robinson serves as a Leverhulme Research Fellow at the Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University, where his office is located in room B23, B-Floor, LEC 3. His research bridges marine ecology, fisheries science, and food security with particular focus on coral reef ecosystems and aquatic food systems.
His primary research interests include:
- Marine ecology and coral reef ecosystem dynamics
- Fisheries science and small-scale fisheries contributions
- Aquaculture sustainability and nutrient cycling
- Climate change impacts on marine food webs
- Nutritional dimensions of seafood systems
- Food security implications of marine resource use
Dr. Robinson's publication record demonstrates consistent research output since 2013, with recent work (2023-2025) showing increasing focus on the intersection of climate change, nutrient cycling, and food security through marine systems. His articles reveal a strong emphasis on quantitative analysis of coral reef fisheries, small-scale fisheries' multidimensional contributions, and sustainability challenges in aquaculture systems.
His notable achievement includes the prestigious Leverhulme Research Fellowship, which supports his innovative environmental research.
Current research projects include 'Oceanic Subsidies: human and climate drivers of tropical marine food webs' (2023-2031), 'From luxury fish to staple seafood: tracing the making of the Scottish farmed salmon market' (2022-2023), and 'Fisheries Transitions for Future Coral Reefs' (2020-2023), demonstrating sustained research funding and active scholarly engagement.
