James P. Nichols

James P. Nichols is an Associate Professor in the Music Production and Engineering (MP&E) department at Berklee College of Music, where he teaches Pro Tools and critical listening. He is also a Grammy Award-winning recording and mastering engineer with over 50 years of experience in film, Broadway, live, and digital recordings. His professional affiliations include Dolby Laboratories, Jazz at Lincoln Center, RCA Studios, and Manhattan Center Studios.

His research and professional interests center on advanced audio engineering, immersive sound technologies such as Dolby Atmos, music production, and critical listening.
