معرفی
James Nuñez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, where he leads research on genome stability mechanisms and transposable element regulation.
His lab investigates how proteasomes maintain DNA packaging to suppress parasitic genetic elements, employing protein-DNA interaction mapping, super-resolution microscopy, and CRISPR-based gene editing. This work bridges epigenetics, genomics, and genome editing with direct implications for neurodegenerative diseases and cancer therapeutics.
His scientific recognition includes:
- Pew Biomedical Scholar (2024)
Dr. Nuñez directs the Nunez Lab (nunezlab.org), which pioneers methodologies to map proteasome-genome interactions and develop interventions for transposable element-related pathologies through innovative molecular approaches.
