James Naismith is a Professor of Structural Biology at the University of Oxford and a Senior Research Fellow at Jesus College. He previously led the Research Complex at Harwell (2017–2019) and has been involved with the Rosalind Franklin Institute since 2018. His work, alongside institutions like Diamond and Franklin, contributed to the discovery of nanobody treatments for COVID-19.
- He also serves as Vice-President (non-clinical) of The Academy of Medical Sciences and Vice-Chair of the European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser Council.
His research focuses on the structural and chemical biology of enzymes and recognition complexes, advancing applications in medicine and disease treatment.
