James Moura

James Moura, Ph.D., is a Research Fellow in the Community, Liberation, Indigenous, and Eco-Psychologies specialization at Pacifica Graduate Institute. He is also a professor at the University of International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusophony and Federal University of Ceará, Brazil, and a community psychologist working with indigenous and black communities since 2007.

His research focuses on mental health promotion in impoverished communities through decolonial studies and participatory action research. He has led projects in Latin America and specializes in intergenerational community development strategies and psychosocial implications of poverty.

Professor Moura has secured significant grants, including funding from CNPQ, FUNCAP, CAPES, and the Fulbright Program. He is currently collaborating with international scholars to explore the decolonial roots of Community Psychology and healing practices in Brazil’s indigenous and quilombola communities.
