James Meetze is a Lecturer in the Department of Engaged Humanities and the Creative Life at Pacifica Graduate Institute, where he teaches writing and film studies. He is also affiliated with University of Arizona Global Campus. Meetze holds a Ph.D. in Mythological Studies (2016) and an M.A. in Engaged Humanities & the Creative Life from Pacifica Graduate Institute.
He is the author of five poetry collections, including Phantom Hour (2016) and Dayglo (2010), which won the Sawtooth Poetry Prize. His works have been translated into multiple languages, and he co-edited Other Flowers: Uncollected Poems by James Schuyler. Meetze is also a co-writer and executive producer of the award-winning short film The Conservationist.
Research interests span poetry, creative writing, depth psychology, mythological studies, and film. His work explores intersections of myth, self-making, and contemporary lyric poetry, with a focus on translation and interdisciplinary creative practices.
