James Linton is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Manchester, within the Molecular Microbiology research theme. He holds a BSc in Microbiology (1988, University of East Anglia) and a PhD (1997) focused on Campylobacter and Helicobacter species. His research investigates bacterial protein glycosylation in pathogens like Campylobacter jejuni, exploring glycosylation pathways' roles in disease and biotechnological applications.
Research focuses include N- and O-linked glycosylation mechanisms, their impact on pathogenesis, and their potential for glycoconjugate-based drug and vaccine development. He has contributed to over 27 peer-reviewed publications and supervised 13 students. Awards include a Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellowship (2003).
