James L. Peacock

Dr. James L. Peacock is an Associate Professor (Part-Time) in the Department of Surgery and Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He earned his MD from Tulane University School of Medicine (1982) and completed residency and fellowship training at Vanderbilt University and the National Cancer Institute.

His clinical expertise focuses on breast cancer, melanoma, and gastrointestinal malignancies (gastric, pancreatic, colorectal cancers). He is also recognized for advancing laparoscopic surgical applications in cancer staging and treatment of gallstones/hernias.

Research spans cancer cachexia, tumor metabolism, and oncologic surgical outcomes. Articles highlight work on K12-ras mutations, heat shock proteins, and insulin's role in cancer-induced wasting.
