معرفی
Dr. James Hamlin is a tenured Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Florida. His research focuses on high-pressure physics, particularly the study of superconductivity in exotic materials under extreme pressures. Using diamond anvil cells, he investigates how materials behave under pressures mimicking Earth's core, aiming to discover room-temperature superconductors.
Education:
- Bachelor's and Doctorate in Physics from Washington University in St. Louis
- Postdoctoral research at UC San Diego with Dr. M. Brian Maple
Research Interests:
- High-pressure synthesis and characterization of superconductors
- Machine learning-driven material discovery workflows
- Electronic and structural phase transitions under pressure
- Pressure-tuning of magnetic and superconducting properties
Lab Facilities:
- High-pressure equipment utilizing helium gas for rapid experiments
- Collaboration with National MagLab and Microkelvin Lab
Personal: Enjoys body surfing, caving in Florida's limestone caves, and曾 served as steward of Warren’s Cave.
