معرفی
James G. Bann is an Associate Professor at Wichita State University. His research focuses on understanding mechanisms of protein folding and membrane channel formation, particularly in the context of disease pathogenesis. He investigates the anthrax protective antigen from Bacillus anthracis and CooC in enterotoxigenic E. coli, using techniques like fluorine NMR, circular dichroism, and fluorescence spectroscopy.
- Educational Background: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Oregon Health Sciences University (2000).
His lab explores how proteins assemble into functional structures, such as CS1 pili in E. coli, which are critical for bacterial adhesion to host cells. Key interests include the role of histidine protonation in anthrax toxin pore formation and the assembly mechanisms of bacterial pili. Contact: jim.bann@wichita.edu, Office MC 403.
