Dr. James Fletcher is a PhD Candidate at the Centre for Health Services Research and a Medical Oncology Research Fellow at the Division of Cancer Services, Princess Alexandra Hospital. He holds dual clinical specialization in Medical Oncology and General/Acute Medicine, with research focused on geriatric oncology and frailty assessment in older cancer patients.
His research investigates frailty measurement, management, and mitigation strategies in oncology settings, particularly applying geriatric assessment tools to improve treatment outcomes for elderly cancer patients. His work bridges clinical practice and health services research through collaborations with Queensland Digital Health Centre and COSA.
Recent publications demonstrate expertise in lung cancer treatment outcomes, immune checkpoint inhibitor safety, teleoncology implementation, and frailty assessment methodologies. He has contributed to NSCLC treatment sequencing, HBV reactivation risks, and corticosteroid use in immunotherapy.
He is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland and works in partnership with Princess Alexandra Hospital's cancer services division.
