James Ellison

Dr James Ellison is a Senior Lecturer in International History at Queen Mary University of London's School of History. He has been affiliated with the institution since 1997, specializing in post-1945 international affairs with particular focus on Anglo-American relations, British foreign policy, and European integration. His research examines Cold War dynamics, transatlantic partnerships, and Britain's role in shaping European unity. Ellison has published extensively on topics including British-EU relations, NATO policies, and the challenges posed by de Gaulle's France during the 1960s. He currently serves as Editor of Cold War History and Editorial Board Member of Contemporary British History.

Ellison's work has been featured in History Today and BBC Knowledge, and he frequently comments on historical parallels in contemporary British foreign policy for media outlets like BBC Radio, LBC, and Swiss RTS. His recent projects explore the post-Cold War Anglo-American relationship through the lens of the Iraq War.
