Timothy Andrews Sayle is an Assistant Professor of History and Director of the International Relations Program at Trinity College, University of Toronto. He holds affiliations with the Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History, the Centre for the Study of the United States, and the Center for Presidential History at Southern Methodist University. His research focuses on NATO history, Cold War dynamics, intelligence studies, and post-1945 international relations. Sayle has authored Enduring Alliance: A History of NATO and the Postwar Global Order (2019) and co-edited volumes on Canadian nuclear history and the Iraq War surge decision.
He directs the Canada Declassified project, a digital repository of declassified archival records, supported by SSHRC and Connaught grants. Sayle’s work bridges diplomatic history with strategic studies, emphasizing intelligence diplomacy, nuclear policy evolution, and transatlantic alliance structures. His research has been published in leading journals including International History Review, Historical Journal, and Intelligence & National Security.
