James Curry is a retired Professor and former Director of the Washington Internship Program at Baylor University, holding the endowed title of Bob Bullock Professor of Public Policy and Administration. He is affiliated with the Department of Political Science within the College of Arts & Sciences. His teaching focuses on American constitutional development, criminal justice, public administration, and law & policy.
- Education: Ph.D. & M.A. in Political Science from the University of Kansas; B.A. from Tarkio College.
- Awarded Baylor's Outstanding Tenured Faculty Award and recognized multiple times for teaching excellence by Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board.
Research interests span constitutional governance, criminal justice reform, public policy implementation, and legal frameworks in healthcare. His textbook Constitutional Government: The American Experience is a leading academic resource. Curry has also contributed to legislative analysis in Texas and explored the intersection of dermatology with ADA compliance through interdisciplinary collaboration.
As a mentor, he oversees the Washington Internship Program and the Bob Bullock Scholars Program, providing students fieldwork in governmental and non-profit sectors. His work was formally acknowledged by the Texas Legislature in 2009 for internship program contributions.
