James Ciecka is a Professor in the Department of Economics at DePaul University's Driehaus College of Business. Since joining DePaul in 1970, he has held significant roles including Chair of the Economics Department (1989–1995) and Executive Co-Editor of the Journal of Forensic Economics. His academic career spans over five decades at the university.

His research focuses on forensic economics, work-life expectancy modeling, and labor force dynamics, with publications in the Journal of Forensic Economics and Journal of Legal Economics. As a consultant, Ciecka has contributed to Kuwaiti economic studies and participated in Illinois Pollution Control Board proceedings. He organized the National Association of Forensic Economics program at the 2007 Allied Social Science Association Meetings.
