معرفی
James Brorson, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Chicago and serves as Medical Director of the University of Chicago Comprehensive Stroke Center. With over 25 years of experience, he specializes in vascular neurology, focusing on stroke treatment/prevention and mechanisms of neuronal cell death in ischemia and excitotoxicity. His clinical expertise includes managing carotid stenosis, intracranial aneurysms, and hypercoagulable disorders.
His research interests span cerebral ischemia, stroke prevention strategies, intracranial atherosclerosis, and endovascular therapies. Recent work emphasizes optimizing secondary stroke prevention through LDL-lowering therapies, thrombectomy techniques, and risk stratification models.
Dr. Brorson has led NIH-funded research including R61NS135583 (2023-2025) on stroke trial design and earlier R01/K08 grants on AMPA receptor mechanisms in neuronal death. His publications demonstrate a strong focus on clinical trials, endovascular interventions, and cerebrovascular pathophysiology.
