James Brocklehurst is the Associate Head of School for Marketing, Recruitment, and Admissions at the School of Art, Design and Architecture (part of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business) at the University of Plymouth. He is also a lecturer for the BA(Hons) Graphic Design with Typography and MA Communication Design programmes. His expertise lies in graphic design for interactive media, with a focus on digital communication concepts and processes.
James has extensive teaching and administrative experience, including managing the BA(Hons) Graphic Design with Typography programme for eight years and lecturing on the BA(Hons) Illustration and MA Publishing programmes. He has collaborated with institutions like the Open University, University of Brighton, and South Devon College. His students have won prestigious awards such as the D&AD New Blood Awards and YCN Student Awards, with their work featured in Computer Arts Magazine and Creative Review. Notable live project partners include House of Fraser, IBM, The Met Office, and Brighton Museum and Art Gallery.
James coordinates industry-linked design projects and has contributed to the English Riviera Global Geopark initiatives. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing creative innovation and education.
