Dr. James Brenner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology's College of Engineering and Science, with affiliate status in Biomedical Engineering and Science. - Tissue engineering automation: Developing bioreactor arrays with cytokine sensors for inflammatory response monitoring
- Advanced materials: Polyurethane foam synthesis (flexible/rigid) for aerospace and automotive safety applications
- Space resource utilization: Lunar regolith processing for 3D-printed extraterrestrial colonies
- Disinfection technology: LED-based UV systems through his venture Chem-Free Solutions

Past research includes hydrogen purification, molecularly imprinted polymer sensors, nanomaterial self-assembly, and extreme-condition material testing. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a B.S. from the University of Delaware. Professional experience includes postdoctoral work at Argonne National Laboratory and hydrogen storage research at Westinghouse Savannah River Company.
Dr. Brenner leads a research group focused on hybrid instrumentation development (nanoparticle tracking, confocal microscopy) for tissue engineering and mentors graduate students in materials science and biomedical projects.
