James A. Bennett is a Professor at Albert Medical College, affiliated with the Department of Immunology and Microbial Disease. His research focuses on the role of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and its derived peptides in regulating endocrine cancer growth, particularly in estrogen-dependent breast and prostate cancers.
His work demonstrates that AFP inhibits cancer growth by targeting estrogen receptor pathways without direct competition. He has developed synthetic peptides from AFP's Domain III, including a 34-amino-acid segment and smaller stabilized variants, for potential therapeutic applications in hormone-receptor-positive cancers. His studies also explore mechanisms of tumor growth inhibition and strategies for overcoming drug resistance.
Key publications span topics in Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, and Peptide Therapy, with recurring themes in AFP-derived peptides, Tamoxifen resistance, estrogen receptor modulation, xenograft models, and hormone-dependent cancers.
