Jameela Lares is Professor of English at the University of Southern Mississippi, specializing in Milton, English Renaissance literature, seventeenth-century studies, biblical style, and the history of rhetoric. She served as Charles W. Moorman Distinguished Professor of the Humanities (2017-19).
Her research examines the intersection of religious discourse, rhetorical traditions, and literary expression in early modern literature, with particular focus on Milton's works. She has published extensively on preaching arts, biblical influences in literature, and the reception of classical traditions in children's literature.
Recent publications include tributes to scholarly figures, analyses of Milton's rhetorical strategies, and studies of hymnody and educational texts, demonstrating her interdisciplinary approach to literary and religious history.
