Dean Clement is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of English at the University of Memphis. His academic journey includes a B.A. in Literature from the University of Mississippi (2005), an M.A. in Literature from the University of Montana (2009), and a Ph.D. in Renaissance English Literature from the University of South Carolina (2015).
Dr. Clement's research explores the confluence of 17th-century English literature, political philosophy, and biblical texts, with a focus on John Milton and Shakespeare. His work critically examines how heterodox religious narratives influenced literary and ideological developments during the proto-Enlightenment.
His publications analyze pedagogical approaches to Shakespeare for underrepresented students and political chaos in Milton's Paradise Lost, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement with education theory and political philosophy.
