Jakub Tolar

Jakub Tolar, MD, PhD serves as Dean and Vice President for Clinical Affairs at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he holds a professorship. Based at the Mayo Building in Minneapolis, he oversees clinical operations and academic medicine strategy for the institution.

His research focuses on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for genetic disorders, particularly pioneering bone marrow transplant therapies for epidermolysis bullosa and metabolic storage diseases. This work bridges regenerative medicine and pediatric hematology, emphasizing translational applications for rare conditions.

As an educator, he mentors future hematologists through the Medical School's training programs and directs one of North America's largest Blood and Marrow Transplantation services. His leadership integrates clinical care, research innovation, and academic administration across the university-health system partnership.
