Jakub Grzelachowski

Jakub Grzelachowski is a cellist and teacher at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk since 2021, affiliated with the Faculty II – Instrumental Department. He graduated with distinction in 2022 from the class of Prof. Błażej Goliński and has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician with orchestras like the Polish Chamber Philharmonic in Sopot. His artistic work focuses on 20th-century Russian music and chamber collaborations, including international projects such as the Generative Art Conference in Venice (2024).

Education: Studied under notable mentors including Prof. Kazimierz Michalik, Prof. Stanisław Firlej, and Prof. Tomasz Strahl. Completed chamber music training under Prof. Anna Prabucka-Firlej and participated in masterclasses at the National Forum of Music (Roel Dieltiens, Piet Kuijken) and the Guarneri Trio Prag.

Research & Performance: Specializes in 20th-century Russian repertoire and chamber music. Achievements include second places at the Vilnius and Stockholm International Music Competitions. Collaborated with violinist Volker Biesenbender and participated in the world premiere of Tomasz Jocz’s audiovisual project at the Generative Art Conference.

Awards & Grants: Recipient of over a dozen scholarships, including from the Mayor of Elbląg, Minister of Culture, and Elbląg Cultural Society. Notable honors include the Artistic Award of the Mayor of Elbląg (2022) and scholarships supporting recording projects like Kazimierz Wiłkomirski’s works.

Ensembles: Chamber musician with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic in Sopot, performing at venues like the Wiener Musikverein and Cologne Philharmonic. Active in festivals and international concerts across Europe.
