Jakob Viskum Vestergaard is an Associate Professor at Roskilde University, where he serves as Head of Studies for Socio-Economics. His research focuses on central banks' roles in capitalism, global economic governance (including institutions like the IMF, World Bank, and FSB), and the governance of international financial systems. He employs historical institutionalism and governance theory in his work.
Teaching interests include Institutional Economics, Global Political Economy, and the History of Money and Finance. He co-founded the research group Economic Policy, Institutions and Change (EPIC) and led the Global Political Economy group at the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS).
Key research themes: 1) Monetary policy and financial stability; 2) Reform of international financial architecture; 3) Accountability mechanisms in central banks and multilateral institutions. He emphasizes a constructivist approach to economic discourse in student supervision.
