Professor Jakob Thomä holds the position of Professor in Practice for Sustainable Finance at the Department of Economics, SOAS University of London, and serves as a Senior Fellow at the SOAS Centre for Sustainable Finance. He is also the Co-founder and Research Director of Theia Finance Labs (formerly 2° Investing Initiative) and leads the Inevitable Policy Response Programme. His expertise focuses on sustainable finance, climate risk stress-testing, and long-term financial supervision. Thomä has advised numerous central banks, including the Bank of England and Bank of Thailand, and has incubated influential sustainability tools like PACTA and TransitionMonitor.
Education: PhD in Finance from Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers. Key ventures include 1in1000, AssetImpact, and tilt (climate-related SME data). His book Der Kill Score examines ecological and social impacts of unsustainable practices.
Research collaborations include projects on climate risk in Thailand with the Bank of Thailand and macro-financial resilience initiatives through The University Network. Current projects emphasize aligning financial portfolios with climate goals and addressing transition risks in global finance.
