Jakob Bøje

Jakob Bøje is an Associate Professor at the Department of Design, Media and Educational Science, University of Southern Denmark, with a focus on professions, organizations, and leadership in the welfare/competition state. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Sciences from the University of Copenhagen and a Cand. mag. in Psychology and Pedagogy & Educational Studies from Roskilde University.

His research centers on teacher and educator education, professional identity, school leadership, and the sociology of education. Key projects include the NordForsk study on social security in Nordic welfare states (sub-project on youth vulnerability) and DFF research on impartiality norms in professional education. Recent work explores the interplay of democracy and education, meaning-making in Nordic teaching professions, and welfare state reforms.

Current activities include editorial roles at Tidsskrift for professionsstudier and Dansk pædagogisk Tidsskrift, and membership in BELMAS and the NORDPRO steering group. His 96 research outputs include 28 journal articles, 27 book chapters, and 12 papers, with collaborations in projects like MeShape (EU-funded) and INSPECT (post-COVID educational consequences).
