Jakob Barnard

Jakob Barnard is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Computer Science and Technology Department at the University of Jamestown. He also serves as Director of Online Technology Programs and has been actively involved with ACM SIGCSE and other professional organizations.

Education:

• PhD in Information Technology (Cybersecurity concentration), University of the Cumberlands (2022)
• MS in Computer Information Systems (Databases and Business Intelligence), Boston University (2017)
• BA in History/Political Science, University of Jamestown (2005)

Research interests focus on integrating cybersecurity into liberal arts computing programs through innovative curricula, emphasizing networking, Linux philosophy, and digital risk analysis. His recent works highlight phenomenological approaches to cybersecurity adoption and interdisciplinary teaching strategies.

Scientific awards include ACM SIGCSE and Cyberpaths travel grants. He actively participates in professional communities like ACM, SIGCSE, USENIX, and NDFA.
