Jakob B. Wagner is a Professor and Scientific Director at DTU Nanolab (National Center for Nanofabrication and Characterization) at the Technical University of Denmark, where he heads the Characterization department and serves as a LINXS Fellow in the New Materials Working Group 5.
He earned his PhD from the University of Copenhagen in 2002 based on in situ imaging of methanol synthesis catalysts conducted with Haldor Topsøe A/S, followed by postdoctoral positions at Berlin's Fritz Haber Institute and Sweden's Lund University before joining DTU in 2007. He was appointed Scientific Director and Professor in 2013.
Professor Wagner specializes in high-resolution electron microscopy, energy-filtered imaging, and in situ techniques for characterizing semiconductor nanowires, nanoparticle catalysts, and low-contrast carbon nanomaterials including nanotubes and graphene. With over 130 publications, he has significantly advanced dynamic microscopy methodologies and organized major international symposia on in situ characterization.
As head of DTU Nanolab's electron microscopy facility, he directs scientific operations while actively teaching advanced microscopy workshops for academic and industrial researchers, supporting cutting-edge nanotechnology development across multiple disciplines.
