معرفی
Prof. Martin Muhler is a Professor of Industrial Chemistry at Ruhr-University Bochum, leading the Laboratory of Industrial Chemistry within the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He has held the Chair of Industrial Chemistry since 1996 and previously served at the Fritz-Haber-Institut Berlin and Haldor Topsøe A/S. His research focuses on heterogeneous catalysis, photocatalysis, and advanced materials for energy conversion, with projects in the CRC/TRR 247 Collaborative Research Centre. He has extensive administrative roles, including heading the German Catalysis Society (GeCatS) and advisory boards at international institutions.
Education: Completed studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (1980-1986), earning a Diploma in Chemistry. He pursued doctoral studies at the Fritz-Haber-Institut Berlin (1986-1989) under Prof. G. Ertl, culminating in a PhD (1989) and Habilitation (1996) in Industrial Chemistry from Technische Universität Berlin.
Research interests span catalytic reaction mechanisms, catalyst design for energy applications, and nanomaterials synthesis. His work emphasizes industrial relevance, including Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, electrocatalysis for fuel cells, and photocatalytic water splitting. Over 500 peer-reviewed publications and numerous patents reflect his impactful contributions to catalysis science.
Awards include the DECHEMA Prize (1999), Max Planck Fellowship (2015), and recognition in patent competitions. He actively contributes to academic governance, serving on editorial boards of journals like ChemCatChem and ChemSusChem, and steering committees for international research schools.
