معرفی
Søren Bredmose Simonsen is an Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Energy), specializing in advanced materials characterization for energy conversion and storage technologies. He leads research focused on developing in situ methods using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and X-ray tomography to study electrochemical systems like solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOECs), fuel cells, batteries, and solar cells. His work emphasizes understanding material behavior under operational conditions, particularly through his ERC Starting Grant project HEIST, which explores high-temperature electrochemical investigations of model SOECs.
Research interests include catalytic materials for energy applications, nanomaterials synthesis, and the structural analysis of energy-related materials. He collaborates with industry partners like Haldor Topsøe A/S and Amminex A/S, and his competencies span a range of experimental techniques, including in situ TEM and X-ray CT methods. He is part of the 3D Imaging Center (3DIM) project, enhancing DTU's capabilities in advanced microscopy.
Key projects involve PhD students focusing on electrode dynamics in SOECs, porous electrodes for redox flow batteries, and nanocatalysts for hydrogen production. His contributions align with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy (SDG 7) and industry innovation (SDG 9).
