Joshua Gallaway

Joshua Gallaway is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University's College of Engineering. He holds a PhD from Columbia University (2007) and leads the Analysis of Complex Electrochemical Systems (ACES) Lab, focusing on batteries, energy storage, and sustainability.

His research examines electrochemical systems including batteries and fuel cells, with emphasis on phase transformations, electrode design, and operando characterization techniques. Recent publications demonstrate expertise in alkaline batteries, solid-state systems, and computational modeling of electrochemical phenomena.

His articles reveal strong trends in advanced battery technologies: operando characterization (X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy), materials innovation (polymer electrolytes, composite materials), and grid-scale storage solutions (zinc-based batteries, aqueous systems).
