Jaime Mayoral

Jaime Mayoral serves as an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Florida International University, actively contributing to undergraduate education through the HHMI Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program since at least Spring 2024.

His research and teaching expertise centers on bacteriophage genomics, where he employs dual methodologies: in situ wet-lab techniques for phage isolation using Microbacterium foliorum hosts, and in silico bioinformatic approaches for genome annotation and evolutionary analysis. This integrated framework enables authentic research experiences for undergraduates within standard laboratory courses.
