معرفی
Denni Einarsson serves as a Lecturer at Queens University of Charlotte, acting as Primary Instructor for the HHMI-funded SEA-PHAGES (Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science) program. They currently teach four undergraduate biology sections integrating authentic research into the curriculum.
Research focuses on Microbiology and Genomics through bacteriophage discovery and analysis, emphasizing Evolutionary Biology and Bioinformatics education. Their work provides students with hands-on laboratory and computational experiences in phage characterization using Microbacterium foliorum as a host organism.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, they instruct:
- Bio 201 001 (Fall 2024): In situ phage discovery (16 students, 2.5 hrs/week)
- Bio 201 003 (Fall 2025): In situ phage discovery (19 students)
- Bio 303 001 (Spring 2025): In silico genomics with M. foliorum (10 students, 5 hrs/week)
- Bio 303 003 (Spring 2025): In silico genomics (15 students)
As part of the national SEA-PHAGES network, they mentor undergraduates in phage isolation, genomic annotation, and evolutionary analysis while contributing to program-wide initiatives like the 2025 Phage Genomics Workshop and 2026 SEA Symposium.
