Jagoda Budzik is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Jewish Studies at the University of Wrocław. She holds degrees in Hebrew Studies and Theatre Studies from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, where she also completed her 2019 doctoral dissertation on representations of Poland in third-generation Israeli post-Holocaust literature. A recipient of significant grants and scholarships, her work bridges Holocaust memory studies, Hebrew literature analysis, and cultural identity research.
Her research focuses on post-Holocaust narratives, Israeli cultural discourse, and the role of non-Jewish figures in modern Hebrew literature. Current projects include a monograph exploring the 'non-Jewish Other' in Hebrew texts and a critical edition of Yaakov Ha-Levi Lewin's 19th-century memoirs. She has published extensively in journals like Prooftexts, Polin, and Teksty Drugie, with thematic emphases on memory politics, spatial representations, and transnational cultural dynamics.
Budzik's awards include the prestigious 'Diamond Grant' and multiple scholarships recognizing her contributions to Holocaust studies and modern Jewish literature. Her editorial work spans translated memoirs, anthologies of Israeli drama, and critical editions reinterpreting historical texts. She maintains active collaborations across Polish and international academic networks, contributing to both research and educational initiatives in Jewish studies.
