Małgorzata Lipska is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Jewish Studies at the University of Wrocław since 2022 and Deputy Head of the Department for teaching affairs since 2024. Her expertise spans Hebrew drama, modern Hebrew poetry, and literary translation. She holds degrees in Hebrew Studies (University of Warsaw), Theatre Studies (AT Warsaw), and Intercultural Pedagogy (ChAT Warsaw), with additional studies in Israel. Her research focuses on cross-cultural theatrical exchanges and Jewish literary heritage.
Notable achievements include an honorable mention in the Majer Bałaban Competition for her doctoral dissertation on Polish-Israeli theatrical exchanges (1990–2018). She specializes in translating Jewish memoirs and theatrical texts, emphasizing melic (poetic) translation techniques. Recent publications include translations of Mosze Lejb Lilienblum's Sins of Youth (2023) and Awraham Ber Gotlober's Memories of My Youth (2022).
Her work bridges academic scholarship and creative translation, with articles analyzing modern Hebrew drama's political themes, silent cinema's influence on theatre, and the interplay of Hasidism and unconscious thought in Galician literature. She actively contributes to interdisciplinary projects like Solomon's Tent and memorial books for Jewish communities in Poland.
