Jagdish Hattiangadi is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at York University, affiliated with the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. His research focuses on Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Language, Metaphysics, Epistemology, and the History of Ideas. He holds a BA (1962, University of Bombay), MA (1965, University of London), and PhD (1970, Princeton).
His work bridges historical and contemporary philosophy, addressing themes like scientific rationality, incommensurability of theories, and the philosophy of mind. Recent publications include analyses of quantum mechanics’ metaphysical implications, the evolution of moral conduct, and the demarcation between science and metaphysics.
Dr. Hattiangadi has presented at international conferences on topics ranging from evolutionary epistemology to the philosophy of biology. His research often intersects with interdisciplinary fields, such as the cognitive sciences and social philosophy.
