Jadwiga Berbeka

Prof. Jadwiga Berbeka is a Professor and Head of the Department of Tourism at the University of Economics in Kraków (UEK), affiliated with the College of Management and Quality Sciences. She holds dual scientific expertise in management/quality sciences and economics/finance. Her research focuses on tourism markets (especially mountain, sports, and adventure tourism), consumer behavior, event management, and the economic impact of the meetings industry. She leads numerous research projects including studies on the economic effects of tourism events in Kraków and innovation in business services.

She has authored/co-authored over 150 publications and serves as Thematic Editor of the Bulletin of Geography. Socio-economic Series. She actively participates in EU-funded projects and international collaborations, including work with Swiss institutions through the SCIEX program. Her teaching responsibilities include courses on international travel markets and incentive travel management, with Erasmus teaching engagements in 7 countries. She has supervised 6 completed doctoral theses and is mentoring 4 ongoing promotions.

Prof. Berbeka holds leadership roles in UEK governance, including Senate membership and chairing committees for academic staff development and accreditation. She is an expert for the Polish Accreditation Committee and the Kraków Tourism Expert Team. Her personal interests include extreme sports like high-altitude mountaineering, Arctic expeditions, and international diving certifications.
