Dr. Jacqui Turner is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Reading. Her research focuses on women’s political history, interwar Britain, and collections-based teaching. She led the Astor100 initiative celebrating Nancy Astor’s legacy and contributed to the Vote100 project on women’s suffrage centenary. Turner has received the 2020 Research Engagement and Impact Award and was a finalist in 2018.
Her work integrates academic and public engagement, notably through curating exhibitions and digital resources on historical figures like Nancy Astor and Margaret Bondfield. She has authored books such as *The Labour Church: Religion and Politics in Britain 1890-1914* and co-edited volumes on Nancy Astor’s political impact. Turner’s teaching emphasizes archival engagement and inclusive pedagogy, supported by her Diverse and Inclusive Teaching Excellence Award win.
Her research spans suffrage movements, gendered political culture, and religious-political intersections. Turner’s publications bridge academic scholarship and public history, with contributions to BBC History Revealed and Parliament’s Living Heritage project.
