Jacques Khalip

Jacques Khalip is a Professor of English at Brown University, specializing in Romanticism, Queer theory, and critical theory. He holds a PhD from Duke University (2004), and prior degrees from McGill University (BA 1997, MA 1998). His research explores intersections between Romanticism, queer theory, and aesthetics through works like Last Things: Disastrous Form from Kant to Hujar (2018) and Anonymous Life: Romanticism and Dispossession (2009). Khalip has received multiple grants including OVPR funding (2007-2010) and the Henry Merritt Wriston Fellowship (2010-2011). His teaching focuses on romantic literature, queer theory, and interdisciplinary studies, including courses like Queer Passivity and Romantic Dispossession. He is affiliated with the North American Society for the Study of Romanticism (NASSR).
